FAQs about Professional Home Organising
General
Definitely not. Homes become overwhelming for all sorts of reasons, and I know from my own experience that even when you love organising, there can still be areas of your home that feel difficult to manage. My job isn’t to judge how you got here. It’s to understand what you need now, work out what’s getting in the way and help make things feel more manageable.
You don’t need to fit a particular way of working. I’m ADHD and autistic myself, but I know my experience is only one experience. We can adapt the session around things like decision-making, energy, focus, sensory needs, working memory and how much involvement feels manageable on the day.If something isn’t working, we change it. The aim is to make things easier for you, not to make you fit someone else’s system.
No. Some people like to work alongside me throughout, while others prefer to be involved only for the decisions that need their input.Where appropriate, I can carry on independently with practical organising tasks once we’ve agreed what you’re comfortable with.We can work out a level of involvement that feels manageable for you.
We can look at the most realistic option for each item — whether that’s donating, selling, recycling, passing it on to someone you know or disposing of it.I can help you decide what’s genuinely worth selling, suggest suitable donation routes and help reduce the chance of bags and boxes just sitting around waiting to leave. The aim is to make letting go feel practical and manageable, not create another pile of jobs for you.
That doesn’t mean the system failed — or that you did.Life changes, routines change and homes sometimes need resetting. We can look at what’s working, what isn’t, and adapt the system rather than starting from scratch. If time, focus, routines or schedules are part of what’s making things difficult, we can look at those too and find practical ways to make everyday life feel more manageable. If you’d find it helpful, we can also schedule a follow-up session a month or so later to see how everything is working in real life and make any adjustments.
Absolutely. You don’t need to know exactly what kind of support you need before getting in touch.Tell me what’s feeling difficult, what’s bothering you most or what you’d like to be different, and we can work out the best place to start together.Sometimes the first step is simply making sense of the situation and deciding what would make the biggest difference.
That’s absolutely fine. I work in real homes, and children and pets are part of everyday life.We can work around school runs, nap times, pets needing space or attention, and whatever else is happening in the household. If children are involved in the space we’re organising, I’m happy to include them where it feels helpful — especially when we’re creating systems they’ll need to use themselves.
It’s not always possible to say in advance exactly how long a room or project will take. It depends on things like how many decisions are involved, how much needs sorting, how quickly decisions feel comfortable, and whether we’re also creating new systems as we go.I don’t rush people to make decisions just to get through a space more quickly. I meet people where they are — emotionally and practically — and work at a pace that feels manageable.Sometimes one session is enough to make a big difference. Other projects are better tackled over several sessions. We can review progress as we go and decide together what makes sense next.
No. There’s no set number of sessions you need to book. Some people want help with one specific area and one session is enough to get things moving. Others prefer ongoing support over several sessions for a bigger project or to keep momentum going. We can take it one session at a time and decide together what feels useful next.
I’m based in Benfleet, Essex and mainly work with clients in the surrounding areas.I’m happy to travel further depending on the project. For locations more than around 30 minutes away, a travel supplement may apply, and any parking or crossing charges would be agreed in advance. If you’re not sure whether I cover your area, just ask.
